Liz is a native Houstonian and a proud Texas Aggie who got her start in education as an English Language Arts teacher. Over the last 7 years, she has worked with students in grades k-8th as a classroom teacher, administrator, and reading interventionist. She relies heavily on her experiences teaching reading to help students develop metacognitive strategies for comprehending and retaining new learning in a variety of subjects. She is thrilled to join the Tenney community and teach middle school Social Studies.
When she is not with her students, she can usually be found in the kitchen, trying out new recipes from Pinterest, or in the front yard, playing with her toddler. Her husband of 7 years was her high school sweetheart and is an amazing dad who makes sure she gets plenty of “down time” to curl up with a mug of hot tea and her treasured Kindle.
